1. Intake/New Member Process
Process by which some organizations bring new members into their brotherhood/sisterhood.
Also called “Party Walk;” Unique to members of cultural organizations. More information on strolling can be found here!
A performance amongst cultural organizations where new members present what they have learned about their organization, such as history and strolls. The identities of the new members are kept hidden until they are revealed and welcomed into the community at the end of the performance.
3. Panhellenic Council
The governing council for 8 sororities around the US.
Panhellenic organizations at NYU are Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Gamma, Delta Phi Epsilon, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, and Zeta Tau Alpha. For more information, take a look at the NYU Panhellenic Council website.
4. Interfraternity Council (IFC)
The governing body of 14 social fraternities at NYU.
The NYU IFC organizations are Alpha Phi Delta, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Delta Lambda Phi, Delta Phi, Kappa Sigma, Lambda Chi Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Zeta Beta Tau, and Zeta Psi. For more information, take a look at the NYU IFC website.

Being initiated into the organization. Refers to crossing the bridge from being a pledge to an official member.
9. Divine Nine
The 9 historically African American organizations that make up the National Pan-hellenic Council.
The organizations included in the Divine Nine are Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta.

A member of an organization that has been a member for a year or more.
